We here at The Colorado Fever organization have been single coaches trying to build a sound program only to find out that we just do not have the time, knowledge, or the resources to do a really good job at it. It wasn't until a couple of the coaches began working together on one common goal, player development! WHY SHOULD
YOU CONSIDER THE COLORADO FEVER? The Coaches Corner is simply a way in which all the coaches get involved with all of the teams. We come together to work out strategies, discuss different systems, and to pool the resources of each coach's strong points in training. This allows each coach to get more accomplished in less time. HOW DOES
IT WORK? We are an
organization built on fundamentals, not winning! Once a good fit is established, all players of the new team will be required to participate in the Colorado Fever Tryouts. These tryouts will be used to determine the level of play for the team, i.e. Black, Gold or Orange. The levels are defined as follows: BLACK - The black team will be the team with our most experienced players. A lot is expected from these players and they are placed in the highest level of competition in each league or tournament. GOLD - The gold team are those players with some experience but may need a little extra work on some fundamentals prior to moving to the black team. ORANGE - The orange team is for our beginners. These players are introduced to the game and will be taught the basic fundamentals of basketball. PLEASE NOTE: Our main objective is to get the most development out of every player. Our philosophy is that we place players on teams with similar skills and development. Placing a player with little experience on a black team will not benefit him or her because they would not be able to keep up with the pace of the other players. It also has an adverse effect on the rest of the players when the coach must spend extra time with one player. Therefore, new teams may be required to move players from their team or add players to their team. The logic is a follows: If after tryouts, all coaches believe that the team as a whole should be in the Black Division, however, there are one or two players that may need additional development, those players will be required to move to a gold team. On the contrary, should a team be consider an Orange team and one or two players are more experienced, those players may be moved as well. There are certain circumstances that my arise the would warrant keeping all teams together such as siblings or team continuity. However, this would need prior approval by the organization. WHAT ARE
THE BENEFITS? League and Tournament Registrations - Keeping up with the different leagues and tournaments and scheduling your team will be easier with aid of the organization. Coaches use the organization to manage their registrations in a number of different ways. Most simply have the organization contact the players via mail or email, obtain registration information and monies, and submit the applicable paperwork and payments to the respective league or tournament. The organization will also keep the coaches up to date with all of the available leagues and tournaments. Website - As you have noticed, the organization has its own website. Teams can use this website to display information for there respective teams. For example, if you need to cancel practice or reschedule a game, simply post it on our site. Would you like to post game stats, this can be done as well. Training - As a part of our development as an organization, our coaches are required to attend a number of training sessions offered by different organizations. These training sessions are the expense of the Colorado Fever. Further training is also available for the players as well. The organization has aligned itself with third party companies that offer training for speed, agility, shooting, etc. Coaches Corner - Our coaches are required to attend games of other teams periodically. This allows us to get a feel of how each team is performing. We then get together at our coaches meeting and discuss strategies, drills, etc. This allows all coaches to get further insight on how to development his or her team. Please remember that these session are only suggestive and the final decision is that of the individual coach. However, some circumstances may arise where coaches may be required to take a different strategy. Financial - Being apart of the organization requires that players pay a small fee for uniforms, gym time, travel, training aids, etc. Also, the organization continues to seek sponsors for the organization as well. These monies collected help fund a lot of the activities that are associated with having a team. HOW DO I
