2008 FALL SEASON
BASKETBALL
Dear Parents and
Players:
Welcome again to
the beginning of another exciting spring season.
The coaches and I are extremely eager to begin
working with all of our present players and our new
players as well. We have managed to acquire some
extremely talented players over the course of the
past year and we expect these players to compliment
our present players very well.
Before I explain
what will happen this fall, I would like to recap
our previous seasons and the changes to our
organization. This past year our club made some
dramatic changes in the way we organized, selected
and managed our teams. We felt as an organization
that we needed to become more competitive in order
to maintain and retain the talent we have built up
and acquired. We have done this with flying
colors. For example, our 8th grade team
brought the club our best record ever by going
undefeated throughout the last JAM season; only
losing one game in the finals of the tournament.
This fall we
will attempt to continue our success while upgrading
our player development program. We will attempt to
put more concentration on preparing our players for
high school and eventually college basketball. At
the high school level, this means creating a
portfolio for all the high school coaches that will
be coaching a Colorado Fever player. At the college
lever, this means getting our players in front of as
many college recruiters as possible and assisting
our parents with the recruitment process. We will
be detailing this new program on our website
shortly.
Once again we
will have a tryout session. The cost to attend this
session will be $5, which will be used to pay for
the gym time. The tryouts for 4th – 7th
grade will be on Saturday August 9, 2008 from
1:00pm to 3:00pm at the Beck Recreation Center.
Tryouts for 8th through 9th
grade will also be on Saturday August 9, 2008
from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at the Beck Recreation Center.
Please remember to arrive a little early to complete
the registration process. This is a MANDATORY
tryout session in which players will be evaluated
for team placement. Players not attending the tryout
session may risk not being placed on a team.
Registered players who are not placed on a team will
be refunded the entire registration fee, not
including the fee for the tryout. Also, since the
club has grown so tremendously, we will only carry
enough kids to max out 1 to 3 teams in each
division. The exact number will be based on
coaching availability and player abilities. WE
ALSO URGE EACH PLAYER TO INVITE AS MANY FRIENDS TO
OUR TRYOUT SESSION. This will help in creating
additional teams for players needing a spot.
The fall fees are as follows:
·
The 2008 Club
Fall Fee will be $150 –
This fee includes the fee for JAM and the gym time.
Fees are due on August 9, 2008 at registration
during the tryouts. Players not paying the fee at
this time will not be placed on a team.
·
For players
without a Colorado Fever uniform, the cost for a
new uniform will be $55. These uniforms will be
used for all subsequent seasons. Orders must be
placed and paid for at the tryout session in order
to be received by the first game.
(NOTE: There is no longer a uniform buyback
program. We tried this last spring and the club
lost money due to some uniforms not being
repurchased. However, we STILL URGE our
players to DONATE old uniforms to the club.
We have situations in which some players may need to
purchase used uniforms at a low cost.
Should you wish
to make your registration payments early or submit a
down payment for fees or uniforms, you are more than
welcomed to do so. This will speed up your
registration time and also assure that your players
will have a uniform prior to the first game. To do
so, please complete the attached Player Information
form, make all payments payable to Colorado Fever
Athletic Association and mail to:
Colorado Fever
Athletic Association
PO Box 460801
Aurora, CO 80046
If you have
already completed the online version of this form,
there is no need to send in the information form
again. If you are ordering a uniform, I will need
your size request.
Thanks and I
looking forward to a great season.
Sincerely,
Coach Keith Howard
